It's Alive....
So, last week, I wrote about my Bucket List of artists I had to see before
I, well, kicked the bucket. Since then, I've gotten a line on tickets for
one of the acts, so hopefully, I'll be able to cross another band off the
List. However, I'm pleased to report that I am not alone, and there are others
who get as excited about music and live shows as I do. Please enjoy this
love note I got from Darla Thomas, OM of Journal's Tucson cluster:
"I had to laugh at your 'Bucket List' comparison, as I just had the
conversation with my co-worker Leslie Lois (KMXZ program coordinator) about
the 'bands
I have to see before I die' list. One of them is George Michael, who I am
finally getting to see this summer. I have been dying to see him since I
was 16 years old, and I am completely geeked out about his tour this summer.
"Rarely do we jaded radio folks get excited about any concerts anymore,
so it’s kind of refreshing. Of course, whenever Leslie and I gush about
this show, the men in the building do NOT get it, and the women immediately
do! My other 'must see' is Madonna, but only if she does her '80s/'90s catalog,
which hasn’t been the case in recent years.
"I do have you on one -- back in Syracuse in 1989, I got to see a Michael
Hutchence-fronted INXS show ... front row. One of the best performers our
industry has ever been blessed with. I was one of the lucky ones, I guess."
And yes, I am extremely jealous about that INXS show.
In other news, just so's ya know -- we've been having some e-mail troubles at R&R World
HQ, so if for some reason you're trying to reach out to me and get a bounce-back
or I don't respond, it's because it's probably floating out there in the ether
and I haven't received it. As always, I encourage you to send me any station
news or personnel changes or cool promo stuff to me -- or let me know if you
didn't get one of our regularly scheduled Updates or e-mails -- at kberman@radioandrecords.com.
As Bartles & Jaymes said, "Thanks fer yer support."
