Industry Happenings

The Black Entertainment & Music Association (BEMA) is set to honor several music and radio industry veterans at the upcoming first annual Unsung Heroes Awards Series. The first event takes place Nov. 9 in Philadelphia at the View. BEMA is holding the event together with the Rhythm & Blues Foundation, Philadelphia International Records, Teamwork Productions LLC and Visions East Productions. The following radio, record promotion and retail veterans will be honored: Varnell Johnson, Jack Wellmon, Buddy Dee, Harry Coombs, Weldon A. McDougal, Al Edmondson, Bruce Webb, Harold Burnside (posthumously), Henry "Lighting" Neal and Ronald "Gabby" Patterson.
