Era Of Independents

This is a good time for independent artists, because many programmers are really giving these up-and-coming artists a shot when it makes sense for their stations. Brown Boy's "Superman," Mr. Capone-E's "Don't Get It Twisted" and Lil Keke's "Chunk Up Da Duece" are getting lots of attention in their respective regions, but "La La La" by LaLa and "This Is Why I'm Hot" by Mims are two that should not be slept on. In the rhythmic section of the Oct. 13 issue of R&R, I talk to WMBX (X102.3)/West Palm Beach PD Mark McCray, LaLa, Mims and Moxy Entertainment's Valerie DeLong about why independents are doing it so big these days. Check it out!
